Many people in the world think that number of hits = number of visitors to a website. But they all are completely wrong. A hit is a request to a web server to send a file . For example you open a webpage with only plain text the web server sends the page as a file. This process is called a hit. However in today's modern world a webpage would definitely not have simple text. Each webpage consists of multiple files. These causes multiple hits by the web server. If you scroll down a little bit down in our blog on the right side you will see our hit counter. It shows how many hits our webpage has got. But remember they are not our total number of visitors
